CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Austin Peay State University Campus Police Department is hosting the annual National Night Out against crime on Tuesday, August 6 from 6-8 p.m. on the front lawn of the Dunn Center on Marion Street.

The event is part of “America’s Night Out Against Crime” which involves communities nationwide as law enforcement agencies work to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and build support for anticrime efforts through police and community partnerships.

Officer Charyl Ramsey with the Austin Peay Campus Police talked about the 30th Annual Night Out, “Every year they set a date, usually it’s the first Tuesday in August. It’s all about people locking their doors, turning on outside lights and spending time outside with their neighbors and police,” Ramsey said.

The event will feature patrol cars, inflatables, games, child ID kits and entertainment. Local law enforcement personnel will also be on hand with displays and to meet with the public.
