CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – An apartment fire broke out Saturday evening in Clarksville, leaving eight families displaced.

At 10:25 p.m. Saturday evening, Clarksville Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire at the Avondale Park Apartment at 1351 Avondale Drive, according to a Facebook post from CFR.

All occupants were able to evacuate the apartment building prior to first responders arriving on scene, the post said.

Firefighters were able to keep the damage to two apartments, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Clarksville Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Michael Rios.

“We still don’t know (the cause), it’ll take awhile,” Rios told Clarksville Now Sunday morning.

While the two apartments where the fire was mainly contained suffered a lot of damage, the apartments of six other families remained undamaged, and they will eventually be able to return.

“The firefighters did a good job in keeping the fire to two apartments, but we had to pull the meter on the whole building so as soon as they go in and look at the rest of the building, those six families will be able to move in,” Rios continued.

The TN River Chapter of the Red Cross was called in to assist the eight displaced families.
