CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Ambar Marquis, the current Ward 5 city councilperson, has announced she is running for reelection.

She and her family moved to Clarksville in 2015 when her husband was stationed at Fort Campbell. “After his retirement from the Army, we chose to plant our roots here, buying our first home and raising our two daughters in this vibrant city,” Marquis said.

As a City Council member, she has served on several committees, including Community and Neighborhood Services, Public Safety and Parks and Recreation. She is also actively involved with the Land Development Advisory Committee and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Action Agency. She has served on the Gas and Water Committee as well as the Streets, Transportation, and Garage Committee.

During her time on the council, Marquis has partnered with nonprofits such as Blue Star Families to bring free little libraries to the community. She has also volunteered with the Young Kings Mentorship program, helping provide guidance to young boys.

“Having lived in larger cities, I bring a broad perspective on how Clarksville can manage its growth while enhancing its infrastructure and services,” Marquis said. “I’m dedicated to ensuring our city grows in a way that benefits all residents, and I’m eager to continue advocating for the needs of our community.

“I am focused on improving infrastructure. During my time on the council, I have advocated for funding for improvements and signalized intersections in my ward. Public safety is also a priority; we must ensure our first responders are well-equipped, and adequately staffed to serve our community effectively,” she said. “Additionally, I believe in fiscal responsibility our taxes should enhance the quality of life for residence while remaining within our budget.”
