CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Advantage Learning Center will host an informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 to discuss the programs that it offers for grades K-12.

During the homeschool tutoring program, students learn at their own pace using their individual learning style.

The new Forensic Academy will also be offered, which is a hands-on approach to learning science and math, while encouraging investigation to satisfy curiosity and documentation of surroundings, and challenging students to stretch both research skills and apply what they know.

With the guidance of an internationally certified crime scene analyst, Academy students will engage in fact-based science and hands-on instruction. Areas of focus will include projectile flight path reconstruction, blood stain pattern analysis, trace evidence, latent print collection and identification, entomology, anthropology, crime scene management, and forensic photography. Scientific principles will be used to solve critical problems faced by investigators, prosecutors, and jurors.

Students will also posses their own specifically designed forensic kits for lectures and labs. These kits will be exactly like the Crime Scene Investigator working in the field now carries. The students will hone team building concepts to accomplish benchmarks set throughout the year, and compete in area crime scene forensic competitions.
