FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Approximately 300 Fort Campbell soldiers have been deployed to help protect and enforce the U.S. southern border.

Soldiers assigned to the 101st Division Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division will integrate with military forces already along the border and work together with the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection, according to a news release. They will be based in three locations: Fort Huachuca, Arizona; Fort Bliss, Texas; and Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.

The additional troops will provide sustainment support to the already announced Joint Task Force for southern border operations, including command and control of sustainment units and coordination of logistical support; field feeding support sites; and control of logistical movement.

“The soldiers of the 101st Division Sustainment Brigade are always ready to answer the call, and this mission is no different,” said Col. Josh Porter, 101 DSB commander, in the release. “Their expertise in logistics and support operations will be critical in ensuring the success of border security efforts. I have full confidence in their professionalism, dedication, and ability to execute this mission with the highest standards of excellence in service to the American people.”

Soldiers assigned to the 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, are already at the border, having been deployed in January.
