CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Protesters marched from the Tennessee Triumph Women’s Suffrage Monument on Public Square to the Montgomery County Courthouse as part of the first Clarksville Women’s March on Monday.
The main impetus for the March was the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade and gave the states power to regulate abortion.

The event was sponsored by Megan Berry for Congress, Gloria Johnson for U.S. Senate, Karen Reynolds for state Senate, Allie Phillips for state House and The Equity Alliance, a Nashville organization that aims to build political and economic power for Black Tennesseans.
After the march, a rally was held at the courthouse. Speakers including Phillips, Reynolds, Dr. Tracy Coffey, Dr. Quentin Humberd, Anita Hart, Zoyie Jackson, Juanita Charles and state Sen. Charlane Oliver, who spoke on the importance of women participating in democracy.
