Fort Campbell, Ky. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Fort Campbell welcomed home 30 soldiers with Headquarters Battery, 2-44 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Wednesday.

They spent the last six months deployed at Al Asad Air Base in western Iraq. There they performed Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar (C-RAM) Intercept operations to defend against and defeat enduring indirect fire threats.

Al Asad Air Base has been a critical station for combat search and rescue, medevac and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the fight against ISIS.
