FORT CAMPBELL, KY – The 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell will host the annual Week of the Eagles 2023 starting May 19 through the 25th, at Fort Campbell.
First held in 1974, Week of the Eagles honors the legacy and heritage of the 101st Airborne Division involving Veterans, current Screaming Eagle Soldiers, and community members. The week consists of competitive and espirit-de-corps events which culminates in the recognition in the awarding of the coveted commander’s cup.
This year we will be celebrating the 80 years of the 101st Airborne Division’s dedicated service to the nation. The 101st was activated on Aug. 16, 1942, at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. The first commanding general, Maj. Gen. William C. Lee, said that the division had no history, but that it had a “rendezvous with destiny.” The division will continue to address the nation’s evolving security landscape, with the same level of professionalism, as it has for the past 80 years.
