Update, 4 p.m.: A 2-year-old boy was killed in the shooting Wednesday night, which Clarksville Police say was an accident involving children playing with an unattended gun.

At a home in the 3400 block of Pembroke Road, a handgun was left unsecured, with three children under the age of 4 living there, according to Detective Michael Patterson.

One of the children got the gun, and a 2-year-old boy was shot. He died as a result of his injury.

The boyfriend of the children’s mother, 31-year-old Julian Chester, was arrested on drug and weapons charges.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – One person was critically injured in a shooting Wednesday night on Pembroke Road.

At about 9:55 p.m., Clarksville Police were called to the home, according to emergency dispatch reports by Clarksville Now news partner Dash 10 Media.

Responders found the victim unconscious, and Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service responders performed CPR on the way the hospital.

No further information was immediately available.

Pembroke Road is between Tiny Town Road and the state line near Fort Campbell Boulevard.
