FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – They refer to themselves as a “spot of blue in a sea of green” but the military refers to them as TACPs.
TACP or Tactical Air Control Party is an elite unit of usually two airmen assigned to an Army ground unit to direct close air support and firepower and to assist in clearing a path for Medevac. It is one of the few true frontline combat jobs in the Air Force.
Fort Campbell is home to approximately 100 TACPs who deploy with the soldiers to make their jobs easier. Being on the frontline is a dangerous job and TACPs suffer their share of injury and loss.
To help assist family members and soldiers of the fallen they have established the not-for-profit TACP Association. Their annual “24 Hour Challenge” fundraiser is taking place through tomorrow at Valor Hall in Oak Grove.

At least one member of their team will be running during the 24 hours ending at 11:59 a.m. Friday.
The primary goal is to raise money but they are also competing against other teams worldwide in miles logged.
You can help by making a donation to them either on FUNDLY or stopping by and logging a mile or more. Every dollar and every mile counts.
On Friday, the “Good Eats” food truck will be there from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A portion of all proceeds from the food will be donated to the cause.
