Community members have donated household products, clothing, furniture, and other items for the families, which were distributed on Tuesday.

Church member Rachael Meade said she had read the article about the fire on ClarksvilleNow.com, contacted the Red Cross, and then contacted her pastor to help organize a donation drive for the families.

“Our church always shows up when we have a need in the community, so I thought to present it to my pastor and get as much together as we could for the families. This is the result, and it’s pretty awesome,” she said.

Bonnie Molloy, one of the victims, was grateful for the assistance. “This means everything to us. We are so overwhelmed by the generosity of Clarksville. I think we’ve been blessed. A lot of us were lucky we got out like we did. I think God had his hand over the building,” she said.

Riverside Church, located at 1005 South Riverside Drive, will post further updates about what can be done for the families in the future on their Facebook page. They plan to ask for further donations to accommodate the families’ needs once they are settled in their new apartments. For more information, email outreach@rschurch.com.
