CLARKSVILE, Tenn. – CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – AARP has selected Clarksville-Mongtomery County to be a Livable Communities pilot site. The organization is committed to the area over the next two to three years and will help organize and support a coordinated planning effort across organizations and governmental units. Their goal is “to bring citizens, community organizations, businesses and government together to begin this important work.”
In an effort make local communities and neighborhoods livable places for residents ages 45 and older, Precision Research, Inc. is conducting phone surveys to approximately 800 households in the area.
The survey asks questions about aging in place, transportation, and community services and resources and will take about 10 minutes to complete. Both participation and ideas on the topic are requested. The survey is currently underway and will continue throughout the week of September 15.
According to the official AARP website, by 2030 one out of every five people will be 65. The Clarksville-Montgomery County survey will help identify the unique needs of the community to understand how Clarksville can become more livable for everyone at every age.
The survey results will be shared in small discussion groups over the next several weeks. A larger community-wide forum will be held in late fall. A core volunteer team will then organize to take action on the survey and forum recommendations.
