CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – My Girls, a new community organization, will host three free workshops this month to help instill confidence to Clarksville’s middle and high school girls.
The group invites girls from Montgomery County and surrounding areas to join them each Saturday in September for their “Kill ‘Em With Confidence” series. The series will feature workshops dedicated to key aspects of confidence, including inner confidence, self-esteem, and dream building.
The first workshop, The Blueprint, will take place Saturday, Sept. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the clubhouse of Independence Place apartments, 3193 Fort Campbell Blvd, in the clubhouse. In this workshop girls will be aided in discovering what they believe in and value, what they love about themselves, and the importance of personal ethics.
“We want to aid in building strong, smart, focused young women who have a great sense of self and a strong sense of community,” said co-founder Chawntia Johnson.
My Girls was founded by six Clarksville natives: Laishka Bruno, Chawntia Johnson, Tiffany Perkins, Courtney Simpson, Amber Stuart, and Ashley West; each went on to attend Tennessee universities.
The mission of the organization is to uplift middle and high school girls, and provide them with the tools they need to change the world. The organization aims to encourage girls to challenge the impossible, and become the next leaders in their field of interest. “We see vast amounts potential in the young, female population of Clarksville and want to help cultivate that through service and leadership,” said Johnson.
