CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Veteran-owned Whiskey Bravo Southern Kitchen & Smokehouse opened their doors just over the river on Highway 48/13 in September, and they are serving up slow-smoked BBQ, burgers and seafood, plus breakfast on the weekends.

Whiskey Bravo owner Jason Harvey told Clarksville Now said he owns the catering company next door, and some time ago he realized the need for a good Southern restaurant across the Cumberland River.

“A lot of the locals have been saying, ‘Hey we want something, we need something,'” Harvey said. “So, I did all-you-can-eat buffets throughout the summer of 2025 until the fall to talk to the community about what they wanted and what they liked.”

“I really saw the desire, so I decided to talk to the landlord and go ahead and sign a lease at this location. Then came the remodeling, design planning and building everything myself,” he said. “The bar was hand-built; the tables are hand-built.”

Harvey said he worked with local artists who came in and decorated throughout the restaurant. “It was a community effort in a sense,” he said.

Harvey said it was a struggle for the first five to six weeks as they established themselves, but his workers have come in with passion and heart.

“But we want to be a place where people come and it’s their restaurant. We’ll take their feedback; we’ll take their criticism; we’ll roll with the punches. We understand we can’t please everybody, but we want people to have memories here. This building is pretty historic in itself; it was the original Catfish House location.”

Favorites plus eating challenge

Being from Charleston, South Carolina, Harvey said his favorite item on the menu is the shrimp and grits. As for customer favorites, Harvey said people love catfish selection, even though they put it on the menu just to pay homage to their location and its history.

There are two eating challenges at Whiskey Bravo. One is to eat 6 pounds of “Southern goodness” in 30 minutes. The challenge includes 1 pound each of brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, and smoked sausage, plus a large order of fries, mac and cheese, baked beans and cornbread.
