CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Radical Mission-Compassionate Ministries is a local nonprofit that provides food, clothing and other resources to people in need.

“We offer a box of food and a clothes closet, which also has household items, on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.,” said Executive Director Teriza Bourland

Visits to the organization for support are set up by appointment only. They provide help to seniors 65 and older, which includes families with school-age children. Bourland said the support is based on income.

“As a community service we also have a hygiene room, or cleaning supply room, where we receive donations, and we hand those out once a month to anyone who is listed as our active members, which we call ‘neighbors,’” Bourland said.

How to help with volunteering, donation

Bourland said they want people to know they welcome and appreciate volunteers. And there are needs other than just the Tuesday and Thursday ministry. They are also in need of volunteers to write grants.

Radical Mission is also in need of volunteers for their Jubilee Garden, which helps with their food program. The garden receives support from the Montgomery County Master Gardeners Association.

They welcome donations of nonperishable food, clothing, along with lightly used items. The organization also has a partnership and receives support from Second Harvest Food Bank.

Bourland said Radical Mission has no paid staff. Monetary donations are used to pay the insurance required for a nonprofit organization, and to keep the community outreach active and growing.
