Update, 11:06 a.m.: The pedestrian has died from his injuries, according to CPD. The preliminary investigation found that the man, described as elderly and having “diminished mental capacity,” was walking in the center continuous left-turn lane near the Kroger on Tiny Town Road when he was struck. Police said heavy rain and the man’s dark clothing made it difficult for the driver to see him in time to avoid the collision.
Based on the early findings, no charges are expected. The man’s identity is being withheld until police confirm that all next‑of‑kin notifications have been made. Anyone with information or video footage is asked to contact FACT Investigator Burton at 931-648-0656, ext. 5665.
