CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A No Kings protest was held at McGregor Park on Saturday, with a large crowd gathering along the side of Riverside Drive to take part in the nationwide day of demonstration.

Participants joined in on a community rally in the park before holding the protest. Many attendees carried signs and flags while chanting and waving to passing cars along Riverside Drive, as drivers responded with both supportive and opposing honks.

The event, the third annual one for Clarksville, was organized by Clarksville Indivisible and was part of the third No Kings National Day of Action taking place in cities across the country. Organizers said the demonstrations are meant to bring community members together to speak out and encourage civic engagement.

Laura Wicks, a Clarksville resident and longtime educator, said she attended the protest because she believes it is important for people to speak up about issues affecting their communities.

“It’s time for us to push back,” Wicks said. “I’ve been a school teacher for almost 17 years, and I’ve seen our education system fall apart, it’s just time to start rebuilding our community and fighting for rights for everybody.”
