CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville High senior running back Jamarcus Watkins and senior linebacker Dawson Smith have both been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week for their dominance on each side of the ball against Antioch.

Watkins ran for 147 rushing yards and four touchdowns on offense, while Smith tallied 13 tackles, five tackles for loss, and three sacks on defense.

“We worked hard, and my offensive line blocked everything for me,” Watkins told Clarksville Now. “I wouldn’t have been in the endzone as many times as I was without the help of my teammates. It’s amazing to be on here with a teammate. This team is together, and we’re all for one and one for all.”

“It feels great, I’m really honored,” Smith said. “Honestly, it was fun to just watch Jamarcus on offense, and our defensive line and linebackers played well as a unit on Friday. Adams is a great quarterback, so we knew we had to have pressure on him. The win meant everything, and we proved to everyone that we’re meant to be here and be a part of the top teams in the state.”

2025-26 season stats

After Friday’s contest, on 67 carries, Watkins now has 626 rushing yards and nine touchdowns up to this point in the 2025-26 season. In addition, he also has 13 receptions for 142 yards on the year, along with one receiving touchdown.

On defense, Watkins has amassed 29 tackles and two interceptions, including a pick-six. Smith has also tallied impressive numbers on the year, with 77 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, along with a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

On offense, Smith has also contributed with 24 carries for 122 rushing yards, as well as four catches for 45 receiving yards.

“Watkins really stepped up in a big way, was explosive on offense all night,” said Clarksville High head coach Isaac Shelby. “He ran with speed and power. Dawson played great defense and got to the QB.  Probably made the biggest fourth down stop on Hilda J Richardson Field that I can remember.”

With their victory over Antioch on Friday night, the Wildcats clinched their third consecutive region title, while also capturing home-field advantage in the first three rounds of the postseason if they continue to advance.

Next up for CHS is a game against Cane Ridge at home to finish up the regular season. The contest is on Thursday, Oct. 30, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
