CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The city plans to jump back into stalled public discussions of moving the Clarksville bus station away from the middle of downtown.
Clarksville Transit System (CTS) will host a Transit Center Relocation Community Open House this month, to share information about the potential future site of the CTS Transit Center, and the project history, according to a city news release.

CTS, and the City of Clarksville have been studying the CTS Transit Center Relocation for the past nine years. The Transit Center is currently at 200 Legion St., but will be moved to another location that is to be revealed, the release said.
As downtown has evolved, the Transit Center is now the next-door neighbor to Downtown Commons, which is designed in part to help revitalize downtown with retails and restaurants. Constant city bus activity has at times been a bad fit with the festivals and concerts being held across the street.
Previously discussed locations have included west Madison Street near Hiter Street, and multiple sites on Kraft Street. In 2021, the city announced that several of the options being considered were no longer feasible. All studies that have been conducted to get to this point can be found on the CTS website at https://www.clarksvilletn.gov/1114/CTS-Studies-and-Plans.
The Transit Center Relocation Community Open House is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the CDE Lightband Office, Lisenbee Conference Room, 2021 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. Specific topics to be shared and discussed will include the purpose of the Transit Center, and preliminary site plans and features. The open house will also be an opportunity for public input. Attendees will be able to ask questions and share feedback.
