Update, 9:45 a.m.: Jennifer Letourneau, director of Clarksville Parks & Recreation, told Clarksville Now that while Rochford’s plan shows a possible baseball field on the site, the city does not yet have any specific development plans for what will be included in the proposed park.
Letourneau also said, “Our 2018 Parks and Greenspaces Master plan identified Ward 12 as underserved in park space for its constituents and Councilperson Lovato has been very diligent in her efforts to provide a park for her Ward,” she said. “Mr. John Rochford was very generous in donating this beautiful space that already includes access to Spring Creek, natural trails, city water access and open field space.”

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Around 16 acres of land is looking to be donated to the city to create a new park in northeast Clarksville, to include the development of a ball field as well.
According to city documents, John T. Rochford of Nashville has agreed to donate approximately 16 acres of open space off Tylertown Road, near a subdivision called Reserve at Oakland, for the purpose of a park development.

The property is just east of Oakland Road and Meriwether Road and is bounded by Current Road on the north and Spring Creek on the south.
Councilperson Stacey Streetman said the park would be located within Ward 12, which is one area in the city that has been lacking park space for some time now. “This will be extremely beneficial to us, and we appreciate this donation from Mr. Rochford,” she said.

Ward 12 Councilperson Kerri Lovato also thanked Rochford, while also thanking the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. “Ward 12 doesn’t have any Parks and Rec. services or parks to go to, and it is something we have talked a lot about,” Lovato said.
The Clarksville City Council will meet next for their regular session meeting set for Thursday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m.
