CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Fort Campbell football had its winningest season since 2013 in the fall of 2024. The season included an upset win over Madisonville High, and earning a home playoff game. Now, Falcons head coach Henry Mitchell looks to repeat the success despite a younger roster. The way they’re going to do it? Altogether, and as one.
“We’ve seen a lot of growth from the end of the season to now,” Mithcell told Clarksville Now. “We’ve got a lot of young guys, and so we’re relying heavily on our seniors, who have done a lot for this team, to show and teach them the way things are done around here, and how we carry ourselves in this program.”
The Falcons last year were an electric, big-play offense, led by returning quarterback JP Perryman, who’s also a threat with his legs. On defense, linebacker Keyshawn Dixon returns to the team after leading the state of Kentucky in tackles. Dixon is also an electric weapon in the backfield, which was on full display last year following his four-touchdown, 213-yard performance against Fort Knox in the Army Bowl. The Falcons will look to have a similar identity on the field this fall, said Mitchell.
“We want our football team to be disciplined, but violent,” Mitchell said. “We want to play fundamental football, blocking and tackling is all it comes down to. We want to compete, be smart with how we play the game, and we want to put a good product on the field that our fans can enjoy.”
As the Falcons are going into a new season of play, the message from Mitchell and his team this season is clear, this team plans to move together as a collective unit.
“We’re a family here,” Mitchell said. “I may be the head coach, but no one is above this team. We have an amazing administration and coaching staff that’s part of that. We win together, we lose together, and that’s the bottom line. One for one, all for one, and all for all.”
