CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A house on Porter Hills Drive in Sango was destroyed in a fire that started Monday evening.

The fire in the 3100 block of Porter Hills began at about 6 p.m. in the attic area and was believed to have been caused by a lightning strike, Montgomery County Fire Service Capt. Kevin Falsetto told Clarksville Now. The cause remains under investigation.

The fire was under control within the hour, and hot spots were out by about 9 p.m., he said. The two-story house was a complete loss.

No one was injured in the family of three adults and two children, Falsetto said. One cat was missing. Firefighters were still on the scene at 9:50 helping the family salvage belongings, and the American Red Cross was assisting the family.

One firefighter had a minor leg injury, Falsetto said. That firefighter was treated and went back to work at the scene.

Units from East Montgomery County Fire Service were assisted by Palmyra, St. Bethlehem and Cunningham Fire Service, along with  the Rescue Squad, MCEMS and the Sheriff’s Office.
