CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) — Replant Clarksville, a new organization dedicated to restoring the tree canopy in Clarksville-Montgomery County, hosted a launch party on May 12, with around 75 people attending the event at the William O. Beach Civic Hall in Veterans Plaza.

Replant Clarksville says their mission is to return the community to an acceptable and healthy level of native tree canopy, with the support of local businesses, local governments, nonprofits and citizens to achieve their goal.

Jeff Robinson, Executive Committee Chairman for Replant Clarksville, said the launch of the organization was awesome. “I couldn’t have hoped for anything more. We had a lot of really nice people out here that seem really enthusiastic, and we took in some good donations, this is a winner,” Robinson said.

Robinson spoke to those gathered at the event and said after studying research on trees in other cities and sharing the organization’s thoughts with the local community, they have received positive and encouraging responses to their ideas.

Members working with the organization laid out their objectives and shared their hopes for support from Clarksville and Montgomery County through outreach and education. Replant Clarksville plans to plant 300 trees in high-profile locations in its first year with a goal of 1,000 trees in 2026 and 2,000 in 2027.

Replant Clarksville has applied for their nonprofit status and is partnering with Austin Peay State University, Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools, Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission, Sierra Club Clarksville-Montgomery County and Montgomery County Master Gardeners just to name a few.
