CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Mike Oliver, a public servant with over 32 years of experience in law enforcement, has announced his candidacy for sheriff of Montgomery County in the 2026 elections.

Oliver said he has a proven track record of leadership, integrity and dedication to justice, and he has worked tirelessly to build bridges between law enforcement and the community, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected. “We are at a critical juncture in the growth of our community,” said Oliver. “I am running for sheriff because I believe in the potential of our community to thrive when we work together. I am committed to leading with integrity, compassion and a steadfast dedication to justice. I vow to serve as an independent leader where we keep politics out of law enforcement.”

Oliver began his career as a correctional officer for the State of Tennessee before joining the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 as a deputy. Over the years, he has worked in multiple roles, including Corrections Division, Road Patrol and K-9 Unit, Drug Task Force, K-9 Division Supervisor and Special Victims Unit (SVU).

The sheriff’s position will be on the ballot for the Montgomery County General Election in August 2026.
