CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A woman is accused of killing a man with his own gun and stealing the gun, along with several of his belongings.
Portia Renee White, 19, faces charges of first-degree murder and theft in the Aug. 8, 2024, death of 18-year-old Keon Marquis Alford Jr.
According to an arrest warrant, at 9:51 p.m. that night, Clarksville Police responded to an ambulance call at 1843 Memorial Drive and found Alford unresponsive. He was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.
CPD detectives determined that several items were missing from Alford’s bedroom, including a “Space Jam” backpack, a black studded belt, a replica Louis Vuitton sling bag, and a pair of blue and white Nike shoes, the warrant said.
Detectives then discovered that White posted pictures of herself on Instagram on Aug. 7 in Alford’s bedroom holding his “Glock 44” handgun. The gunshot wounds matched the caliber of the handgun. During later searches of two residences associated with White, detectives found the missing backpack, belt and sling bag. And White was wearing the missing Nikes, the warrant said.
During an Aug. 21 interview, White told detectives she’d planned to travel to Florida the next day.
In March, the Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted White on charges of first-degree murder and theft. They said that at some point between Aug. 6 and Aug. 9, she killed Alford while stealing his handgun.
She has a settlement hearing set for June 18.
