CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – In preparation for tonight’s snowy conditions, Montgomery County Highway Department crews are making sure their fleet is ready to hit the roadways to keep them clear and asks residents to restrict travel later this evening, according to the county’s official Facebook page.

The National Weather Service’s most recent report said heavy snow is still expected, with total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches with locally up to 6 inches in the northwest counties of Middle Tennessee.

“We are expecting that the wet conditions the past few days coupled with the snow will create a compound problem and make travel more dangerous, with ice forming in multiple spots, especially on bridges and elevated roadways. This evening, it is asked that residents attempt to stay off the roadways if possible and restrict travel to only critical need. As usual, priority roads will be cleaned first and then work on the secondary and tertiary roads,” said the Facebook post. Montgomery County also provided a snow removal priority map, which can be seen below.

“Some flakes may fall today in the late-afternoon hours, but the main timeframe for accumulating snow is currently expected to be overnight. The time to prepare is now,” said the post.
