Update, 4 p.m.: A new Heat Advisory has been issued for Wednesday, from noon to 7 p.m., when heat index values up to 110 are expected.

At 3 p.m. today, the high in Clarksville reached 93 degrees, with a heat index of 107.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – We have a double weather threat today: A heat index that could reach 109 and a slight risk of severe storms.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory today through 7 p.m. Today, Wednesday and Thursday the high is expected to be 95 or 96. “Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,” the NWS said. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.”

As for the storms, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening and again on Wednesday, the NWS said. Gusty winds and flash flooding will be the main threats.
