CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Rossview High football team set a personal record in winning the most games since 2014 last season. Now, with a much younger squad, Rossview will look to build off of that success and aim to take the program a step further.

During the 2023-24 season, the Hawks compiled a 7-3 record, with a 6-1 record in Region 7-6A, finishing second in the standings only behind Clarksville High.

Hawks head coach Todd Hood told Clarksville Now after last season, it’s fun to win again.

“I think it’s just fun for anyone who wins games,” Hood said. “It’s fun for the team, school, players, everyone. We had great sports in our whole school last year. Now this isn’t last year’s team, but we want to build off of that, and take some things to a new level.”

The Hawks’ on-field product has usually been a good balance between the passing and ground game, as well as the team being sound defensively. As the team goes into the new year, however, Hood has one message to his team: attack.

“We’re going to attack and be physical on both sides of the ball,” said Hood. “We’re going to fly around to the football, be physical in the trenches, and attack the perimeter this year.”

Also, for this season, Hood let his student-athletes choose their own motto. The honor council, comprised of elected players, chose for the message to be “Rise up.”

“They all decided on ‘Rise up’ for this year,” Hood said. “I think what they’re saying is we have to take this to another level. We want to win some more games, make the playoffs, and make a run while we’re at it.”
