Update, July 14: The accident involved four people from Kansas, three of whom were injured.

The 54-year-old driver was going east in a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek when he came up on an object in the road, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol preliminary report.

The driver swerved to avoid the object, overcorrected and went into a roll before hitting a guardrail. The driver and two teenage passengers were injured. A 30-year old passenger wasn’t injured.

Update, 4 p.m.: Traffic is mostly back to normal, with some remaining slowdowns in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 2, at Exit 8 and near mile marker 17.

Update, 3:25 p.m.: Traffic is slow but clear after Exit 8, but is still backed up to Exit 4.

Update, 3 p.m.: Traffic appears to be clearing at the wreck site, but remains backed up to about mile marker 6.

Update, 2 p.m.: The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the wreck at the 15.5 mile marker. The interstate has been shut down for the investigation. Traffic is now backed up past Exit 8 to about mile marker 7.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Interstate 24 eastbound is backed up into Clarksville after what appears to be a wreck.

At 1:55 p.m., the interstate was backed up from about mile marker 15 past Exit 11 to Exit 8.

Drivers reported seeing police and ambulances on the way to the scene.
