CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Following Sam Lipsey’s resignation in early May, Northeast High School has hired Deonte Weston to lead the school’s football program moving forward.

Weston served as Todd County’s offensive coordinator during the 2023-24 season before accepting his new position. This is the second consecutive season Northeast High promoted an offensive coordinator to become head coach.

“Thank you to all of my mentors whom guided me along the way,” Weston said on social media. “I truly believe my purpose is to serve the youth through the game of football, which helps instill life lessons along the way… This program has such a rich history and I’m excited to be a small part of it.”

With the new coaching hire, this marks four head coaches in four years for the Eagles. Northeast will look to turn their program around after compiling a record of 1-9 in 2023-24.

Correction: Weston was the offensive coordinator for Todd County last season, not with the Northeast Eagles.
