Update, March 14: The crash is still under investigation, but it appears one of the drivers had a medical emergency, causing him to swerve into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle head-on.

The driver who had to be extricated and flown to Nashville is reported in stable condition, the other driver has been treated and released from the hospital.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Police Department is currently working a wreck with injuries, which included one motorist having to be flown to Nashville by life-flight helicopter.

The wreck happened at approximately 11:27 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, at the intersection of Madison Street and Richview Road. The status of the motorist flown to Nashville is unknown for the time being.

Police have completely shut down Madison Street, while eastbound traffic is being diverted onto Alfred Drive and westbound traffic is being diverted onto Richview Road, according to CPD spokesperson Scott Beaubien.

Motorists have been asked to find an alternate route until the scene can be cleared. No other information has been made available at this time.
