OAK GROVE, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Butterfly Festival makes its return to Oak Grove this weekend Saturday, Sept. 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 101 Walter Garrett Lane.
Created and organized by Oak Grove Tourism, the Butterfly Festival is gearing up to mark its 14th year of “enchanting visitors with the magic of butterflies,” according to a news release.
“This festival has become a beloved tradition in the surrounding communities , drawing participants from near and far. There will be a variety of engaging activities for the whole family. One of the most entertaining shows will be the ‘Wild World of Animals.’ If you love exotic animals you will love this show,” said Traci Cunningham, executive director of the Oak Grove Tourism Commission, in the release.
Bring the whole family, there’s something for everyone. The craft stations have been revamped with new magnetic crafts. Come ride the train and zipline, get your face painted, get a balloon from a new balloon artist, have a greenscreen photo done by Shatterproof media, where you can choose from five backgrounds The bubble zone is always a child’s favorite and now has more bubbles than ever. All activities are completely free.
Come and interact with live butterflies in the Butterfly House provided by Milkweed & Honey Farm out of Clarksville. You will see live cocoons, caterpillars and butterflies, the release said.
“The Butterfly Festival is more than just a celebration of these winged wonders, it’s an invitation for all of us to reconnect with nature and appreciate the intricate beauty that surrounds us,” Cunningham said. “We are excited to bring this experience to our community and visitors alike for the 14th year, and we can’t wait to share the magic of butterflies with everyone.”
This festival is one of a kind, award-winning, and sure to take your breath away with the beautiful live release of 2,000 butterflies at 4 p.m. on the Viceroy berm. The butterflies will hang around for a little while before beginning their migration to Mexico.
