CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Following the conclusion of the 2022-23 girls’ high school basketball season, it’s time to honor players representing Montgomery County schools with the Clarksville Now All-Area Girls’ Basketball Team and Player of the Year.

There’s a variety of talented individuals who make up each high school team, but these players separated themselves from the rest. All statistics were contributed by Clarksville-area coaches, and the players are listed by school in alphabetical order and graduating class.

Senior Guard: Atyia Moss, Clarksville Academy – Moss was named the district 4 MVP and selected as an all-tournament team selection. The senior guard was also named as a BCAT all-star participant and a part of the Tennessee Prep Hoops all-state team. Moss averaged 13.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

Senior Guard: Kennedy Johnson-Corley, Clarksville Christian – Johnson-Corley was a senior leader on the Clarksville Christian girls’ basketball team that won the Division III NACA National Championship. She averaged 11.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 3.1 steals.

Senior Forward: Sarah Rankhorn, Montgomery Central – Rankhorn was selected to the team’s all-district team and was labeled as a leader on and off the court by head coach Bill Youngquist. The senior averaged 15.2 points per game this season for the Indians.

Senior Guard: Aubrey Hagins, Northeast High – Hagins earns the nod on the all-area team following a senior campaign where she averaged 9.4 points per game, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.

Senior Guard: Jada Brooks, Northwest High – Brooks finished her senior season with the Vikings on a strong note. The senior guard finished the year averaging 12.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2 steals per game.

Senior Forward: Aubrey Padgett, Rossview High – Padgett served as a lethal scoring threat for the Lady Hawks throughout the 2022-23 season. The senior averaged 13.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals per game. Padgett also averaged 40% from three.

Senior Guard: Alayah Smith, Rossview High – Smith did it all for Rossview this past season. The senior guard averaged 5.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

Class of 2024

Junior Guard: Shinae Johnson, Clarksville Academy – Johnson received all-district and all-tournament honors during the 2022-23 season. She averaged 8.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She also shot 38% from three-point range.

Junior Guard: Imari Berry, Clarksville High – Berry was one of the best guards in the nation this past season. She was named a finalist for the Miss Basketball Award, Gatorade Player of the Year finalist, region MVP, district MVP and a part of the all-district tournament team. Berry averaged 26.1 points per game on the season.

Junior Forward: Ella Moore, Clarksville High – Moore was a force in the paint for the Wildcats all season long. She was named to the all-region team and all-district team. In addition, Moore averaged 9.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

Junior Forward: Torri James, Rossview High – James was a leader for the Rossview High girls’ basketball team on both ends of the floor this season. The junior forward averaged 16.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2.6 steals per game.

Class of 2025

Sophomore Guard: Malon Smith, Clarksville High – Smith served as a playmaking point guard for the Wildcats during this past year. She averaged 8.9 points per game and more than 4 rebounds and assists per contest.

Sophomore Center: Yazmine Pearson, Kenwood High – Pearson is one of three players on the all-area list who averaged a double-double during the 2022-23 season. The sophomore center posted 14 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Class of 2027

Eighth Grade Forward: Lauren Hassell, Clarksville Christian – Hassell served as the featured scoring threat for Clarksville Christian’s national championship team. As an eighth grader, the 6-foot-2 forward averaged 20.9 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 3 steals and 2.2 blocks per game.

Eighth Grade Center: Marley Spiers, Clarksville Christian – Spiers was another player that averaged a double-double for the Clarksville Christian girls’ basketball team. She averaged 10.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

Clarksville Now Player of the Year

Imari Berry, junior guard for Clarksville High School, has been selected Clarksville Now Player of the Year for her production and the impact she had on her team.

The junior guard helped lead the Lady Wildcats to a state-quarterfinal appearance before falling to Green Hill High School to end their season. Since the 2022-23 season ended, she was officially graded as a five-star recruit, according to an update on the ESPN recruiting rankings.

Coming into her junior season, Berry was labeled a four-star recruit and ranked 32nd in the nation. Then this past season elevated her to move up 20 spots to 12th in the nation.

Berry ended her season with the following accolades: finalist for the Miss Basketball Award, Gatorade Player of the Year finalist, region MVP, district MVP and a part of the all-district tournament team.
