CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The New Providence Indoor Pool sustained heavy damage during Friday’s wind storms, causing the facility to shut down for the remainder of the winter months.
The pool, at 168 Cunningham Lane, opened in October 2020. During the summer months, from May to September, the pool is uncovered and allows guests to visit and swim while enjoying the sun. From October to May, the pool is covered with an inflated dome to create an indoor aquatic facility.

The pool took extensive damage to the “dome” or the covering of the pool.
“We believe that it is not able to be repaired, however a technician from the manufacturer is expected to be on site tomorrow,” said Jennifer Letourneau, director of Clarksville Parks & Recreation. “We know from camera footage that the lighting system and doors as well as the air handler also have extensive damage, however that cannot be assessed until the dome is removed.
“We will not be reopening the indoor pool for the season, rather we will open New Providence no later than in May with the other pools, but we hope to open it sooner than that,” said Letourneau.
The New Providence lifeguards will be offered work hours at other locations while work is being done to get the pool and splash pads ready for public use again.
