Smalley was born March 15, 1963. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Foston Funeral Home.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Khandra Smalley, 59, a community leader in Clarksville whose work helped many business and nonprofit organizations, died Thursday. She was 59 years old.
Her passing was announced by her sister, Karyl Kirkland.
“She absolutely loved this community and worked/volunteered to help make Clarksville a great place to work and live,” Kirkland told Clarksville Now. “She was a trailblazer and fought for equality and diversity on many levels.”
Smalley, senior vice president for marketing research at F&M Bank, had several community leadership roles over the years, including serving as chairman of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board. She was a member of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Board, and held many leadership roles with the Chamber, according to Clarksville Now archives.
“Over her 27 years (at F&M), she was an integral part of the success of this bank,” Sammy Stuard, president and CEO of F&M Bank, told Clarksville Now. “She was always willing to help out in any way she could to prosper our community.
“Our bank will certainly miss her. We have lost a real ambassador for our community,” Stuard said.
Smalley graduated with a Master of Science in Management degree from Austin Peay State University in 2005. She then served as an adjunct professor at APSU, teaching marketing for 15 years.
Among the many organizations she was involved in, she served on the Clarksville-Montgomery County Library Foundation Board of Trustees, Workforce Essentials and Customs House Museum Board of Directors. Smalley was a graduate of Leadership Clarksville and Leadership Middle Tennessee. In 2019, she was named City of Clarksville Citizen of the Year and Austin Peay State University Alumni of the Year.
“She was committed to God, her family, friends and community. Her presence will be missed,” Kirkland said. “May others be inspired to continue her life of service.”
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
