CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – You may have seen some colorful eggs displayed in law offices windows in downtown Clarksville this past month. Several law offices in Clarksville have taken part in an “egg hunt” project throughout the month of April.
Shelby Silvey, an attorney with the Public Defenders Office, said this has been both an opportunity to interact with the community and to give back.
“We decorated wooden eggs to display from our offices for the public in our downtown and surrounding areas,” Silvey told Clarksville Now. They have called this project, “Eggs Parte” which is a play on words for “ex parte.”
“An ex parte communication would be without interaction from the opposing side, and this egg hunt is much like that. (It’s) just an opportunity to scout them out and enjoy a walk around or downtown community,” Silvey said.
Silvey organized this interactive event, inspired by geocaching games like Pokemon Go.
Participating offices also gathered $600 in conjunction with the egg hunt to donate to the J.E.T. program.
“J.E.T stands for Juvenile Enrichment and Teen Skills Program. This program is open to teens in our community and partners with the Clarksville Police Department to bring a free four-week course to our teens,” Silvey said.
The course is for teenagers ages 13-17 and involves introductions to some trade skills as well as personal development courses. Arthur Bing of the Clarksville Police Department helps spearhead this as well as four other officers from CPD.
