CLARKSVILLE, TN – Four teams from the Clarksville Screaming Eagles Youth Football and Cheer Organization competed in the 25th Tennessee Youth Football Alliance championship game on Saturday in Gallatin.
The teams, broken into age groups of 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12, were all undefeated going into the championship game. The 5-6, 9-10, and 11-12 teams won their matches on Saturday, taking the home the championship, while the 7-8 team went home as runners up.
These teams have worked extremely hard this season to get to the championship. The coaches are all volunteers who have put in many hours of hard work and dedication to ensure these young men and women made it to this game. Coaches all offered insight into what they did to make a difference this season to be able to attend the championship game.
Brent Mullins, the 5-6 team coach, stated that the dedication of all his coaches is the reason his players and team have been successful this season, because we all win and lose together.
“We started what we did two years ago with all the hard work and the players giving 110% on and off the field,” Warren Smith, the 7-8 team coach said. “The best part about being a coach is not the wins and loses, the X and O’s, it’s about mentoring these young men to be better men in the future.”
Coach Jim Caldwell of the 9-10 team mentioned all the hard work and dedication that his team has put in together as a group. Coach Jim said that this is the most improved team he has coached in 20 years of coaching.
11-12 team Coach Dontavious Smith stated that his team of young men and two ladies have worked non stop at practice to win each game and now go to championships.
President Pooky Bogertey is so proud of all four undefeated teams of Clarksville Screaming Eagles and can not wait to see what the future of this organization will continue to provide for the community.
