CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After a long work week, the perfect spot to “wine down” this summer will be Beachaven Vineyards and Winery.

The award-winning venue is launching a live music series in May with a ripe plan to downsize and keep patrons safe, while still serving all the flavor of their wine, local food trucks, and local musicians.

The new event will replace Jazz on the Lawn, an annual summer concert series traditionally held May-October at the vineyards for more than 30 years.

Jazz on the Lawn was suspended in June 2020 due to COVID-19 amid the CDC’s recommendation to avoid large gatherings to slow the spread. With an average attendance of around 3,000 people, the event has been on a hiatus just short of a year.

But the pause in the series gave organizers a chance to rethink how they want to re-start.

“We listened to feedback, and the parking was becoming an issue, and it was getting too big and was losing that family-friendly atmosphere,” said Rebecca Cook, Beachaven representative. “We felt like if it rains out, you would miss it, so we are offering more opportunities to enjoy the property, social distance and drink wine.”

Weekends at the Winery

Beginning the weekend of May 14 and continuing through October, Beachaven will offer wine, live music from local artists and food trucks every weekend during business hours.

“We don’t really have a name for it,” said Rebecca Cooke.  “It’s not the same setup as Jazz on the Lawn. We are just saying Friday we are having happy hour and Saturday and Sunday live acoustic music and food trucks.”

Every Friday will be happy hour from 4  to 7 p.m. Instead of the free wine tastings like at Jazz on the Lawn, they will be offering a $10 Flight Special (originally $12), which will have four wines and an option for a snack. They will also offer other drink specials.

Every Saturday and Sunday, Beachaven will host a food truck and a different musician outside. The local artists and musicians will have more acoustic performances.

Music will take place on Saturdays from 2-5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

“We are very excited to be able to partner with and host local food trucks and singer-songwriters,” Cooke said. “It will be more relaxed and fewer people. … We were worried how everyone would respond, but everyone is looking forward to something to do outdoors, and now it’s more opportunities to do it, and we hope you will appreciate how much thought and consideration has gone into this decision and will enjoy the weekends in a more relaxed setting.”
