CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With the sun shining and the main roads clear in Clarksville, there were plenty of opportunities for snowman-building and sight-seeing on Friday.
The Clarksville Street Department was still clearing some neighborhood streets on Friday, and many public and private parking lots were still covered in ice. But the main routes through town were in good condition.

Road conditions
Across the midstate, the Tennessee Department of Transportation laid down about 27,500 tons of salt and logged over 170,000 miles clearing and treating roadways across 26 counties from the evening of Sunday, Feb. 14, through the morning of Friday, Feb. 19, according to a news release.
TDOT is now also preparing for pothole patching. “Potholes form when moisture seeps into the pavement, freezes, expands, and then thaws, leaving a void that eventually caves in under vehicle traffic,” Kathryn Schulte of TDOT said. “Crews will have to use a cold mix to make temporary repairs until asphalt plants open regularly in the spring.”
For more information on potholes, go to Potholes (tn.gov). To report potholes on state highways or interstates, go to TDOT’s online maintenance request form.
