Graveside service for Rena Mae Buchanan Covington Swift, age 101 of Indian Mound, TN will be Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2020, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Sykes Funeral Home.
Rena peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at home. She was born on September 12, 1919, in Clarksville, TN to Herman and Nancy Buchanan. She graduated from J.T. Thomas High School in Cumberland City. She was a member of Hopewell Methodist Church in Indian Mound and retired after 26 years of service at Kroger. Rena enjoyed reading the newspaper and her Bible. She loved watching Andy Griffith and Gunsmoke and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, George Covington, Jr. and Ralph Swift, son Donald George Covington; grandsons Robert Covington and James Covington. Rena is survived by her grandchildren: Renee Covington, Donna Ruth Thomason, Thomas Batson Covington, and William Keith Covington; great-grandchildren: Nick Woodard, Ashleigh, Chris, Johnny, Heather, Charlyn, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn, and Drew Covington, and Ambrea Tuberville, great-great-granddaughter Ariella Wynter Covington-Sanchez and daughter-in-law Ruth Ann Daniels.
Pallbearers will be Justin Wenske, Mike Toombs, Jay Thomason, Jerry Buchanan, Charles Buchanan, and Deanna Coakley.
