CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Active cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County are continuing a slow rise, totaling 268 as of today, Oct. 9.
This week, news broke that Austin Peay State University banned all Greek life activities due to virus outbreak stemming from those events.
There are now 28 students and 5 staff members at APSU who are positive for COVID-19, according to the email APSU Interim President Dannelle Whiteside sent out this week.
This is the most new, positive cases APSU has dealt with since the semester began at the end of August, Whiteside wrote.
COVID-19 numbers
Here are the Montgomery County numbers updated on the county’s dashboard as of today, Oct. 9:
- 3,228 total confirmed cases since March 6
- 268 active cases
- 125 total hospitalizations
- 48 total deaths
- 44,125 total negative lab results
Here are the numbers from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, which were updated yesterday, Oct. 8, on their respective dashboard:
- 20 students with active cases
- 373 students in quarantine
- 17 school employees with confirmed cases
- 16 school employees in quarantine
- 172 CMCSS employees on COVID-19 related leave

Free COVID-19 testing is offered by the Montgomery County Health Department in a temporary location at Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday. Follow the signs to the drive-up testing site.
