CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Montgomery County is having its worst week yet for COVID-19 fatalities, with three deaths reported Wednesday. That’s five deaths from coronavirus in two days, bringing the total deaths here to 21.
Two deaths were reported on Tuesday, previously the deadliest day here for COVID-19.
The deaths were announced by Joey Smith, Montgomery County Health Department director, who was unable to release additional details.
Coronavirus numbers
Here are the rest of the local statistics as of Tuesday at 2 p.m.:
- 2,168 lab confirmed and 44 probable cases for a total of 2,212 since March 6
- 30 new cases today out of 562 new test results
- 21 total deaths
- 232 total school-age cases (5-18)
- 1 new hospitalization (residence correction)
- 96 total hospitalizations
- 27,897 total negative lab results
Because of a problem at the state level with the data, active cases aren’t currently reliable. Smith said he’s working with the state to sort out the issue.

Free COVID-19 testing is offered by the Montgomery County Health Department in a temporary location at Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane, from 7 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday. Follow the signs to the drive-up testing site.
