CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The YMCA of Middle Tennessee announced it will not open up summer camp registration for the 2020 season.

“After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that we will not be in a position to offer center day camps this summer. Please know that we did not make this decision lightly and not before exploring every possible way we might safely and effectively run camp at our membership centers,” the association said in a statement.

Clarksville YMCA Day camps traditionally see hundreds of campers through the summer and provide parents with an all day camp option. The camps often include swimming, sporting activities, special theme weeks, and more.

Families who reserved space in anticipation of the 2020 camp season will be provided a refund. “We have already begun the process of issuing refunds for any previously paid camp deposits or fees. Given the high volume of transactions this will require, we anticipate it may take up to 10-14 days before this process is completed.”

There may still be hope for other camp options through the YMCA. Both Camp Widjiwagan and YMCA Fun Company’s Summer Adventure program continue to evaluate their summer camp programming options based on the latest public health guidance.
