CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The City of Clarksville will celebrate Arbor Day by planting two poplar trees at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5 at Barksdale Elementary School, 1920 Madison Street.

The trees to be planted have been donated by the Clarksville Tree Board.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts will be in attendance and issue an Arbor Day proclamation.

David Arnold, State Forester and Assistant Commissioner for the TN Department of Agriculture, and Mark Graveel, Area Forester at TN Division of Forestry will present the following awards:

• Tree City USA to the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department (Forestry)
• Tree Line USA to CDE Lightband
• Tree Campus USA to Austin Peay State University

The Clarksville Tree Board will also be in attendance to present awards to the recipients of the Big Tree Contest.
