CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Rossview Band Program (middle and high school) attended the Middle TN Band and Orchestra Concert Performance Assessment on March 14, 2019 and will now move on to the state competition.
The middle school symphonic band, under the direction of Vanessa Cobb, received the highest ratings the band can receive for the event. The musicians received a ‘superior’ for their concert stage performance and a ‘superior’ for their sight reading.
Groups that attend the event must perform at least two prepared pieces and then perform a piece they have never seen before. Vanessa Cobb said this festival typically has a tough judging panel.
The high school bands, under the direction of Brock Cobb, also traveled and performed at the event. The high school symphonic band attended with a total of 90 band students on the stage. They received a superior rating on stage and in sight reading, which is a first for this group.
The high school Wind Ensemble also received a superior rating on stage and sight reading.
In total, Mr. and Mrs. Cobb took 160 students to this event. With all three of their groups earning superior ratings, they have distinguished themselves among some of the best groups in the state of Tennessee.
All three groups have been invited to perform at the state concert festival on April 25 and 26, 2019 at Austin Peay State University. The state allows 32 bands to perform at this event each year. This is the second year in a row for the Rossview Bands to attend the state festival.
