CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- Local songwriter Brice Long will have two songs on the new George Strait album Honky Tonk Time Machine.

Brice Long is a native of Hopkinsville and is now a singer and songwriter in Nashville. He is well known in the community for the Back to Back concert fundraising series he holds each year to help local families that are in need during the holiday season.

Long says he has been able to visit Texas several times to write songs over the last six to seven years.

“I’ve always had a lot of fun down there hanging out with Bubba [Strait] and getting to write with him,” he said.

Long also had the opportunity for this record to write with George Strait saying, “Actually, getting to write with George is like a dream come true for me, because I am such a huge George Strait fan.”

Long helped co-write the songs with George Strait’s son Bubba Strait, Bart Butler, and the second song with Bubba Strait and Phillip White. For this upcoming album he said he wrote about 20 songs total and ended up with two being cut on the record.

The two songs that Brice collaborated on are “Some Nights” and the title cut “Honky Tonk Time Machine”.

When asked if these would be some of Brice’s favorite songs written to date he said, “I love both of these songs. The song ‘Some Nights’ is just a classic George Strait song to me and I was very thankful that he cut that song.”

He also said that “Honky Tonk Time Machine” is a favorite of George’s grandson, Harvey.

“Everybody tries to get on that record, so it’s kind of a bucket list for a lot of song writers in this town and to have been blessed enough to get a couple on there has been very cool,” Long said.

According to Strait’s website the album is set to release on Friday, March 29, 2019.
