CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A child with autism who left Rossview Middle School Friday, Feb. 15 has been found safe as of 2:21 p.m.

13-year-old Reese Melton was reported missing around 10:20 a.m. and multiple agencies combed the area to search for her, including the Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), and Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Local residents also provided ATVs to help with the search.

Melton was located at 2:21 p.m. by MCSO K9 Deputies Chris Owens and Dale Becraft, as well as K9 Finn.

Clarksville Police spokesperson Jim Knoll said the girl was found in a gully hiding under a fallen tree within the original search perimeter, approximately one mile from the school.

“When she was found, she seemed healthy and unharmed,” Knoll told ClarksvilleNow.com. “The search was successful.”
