JOELTON, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville woman was killed in a crash on I-24 near Joelton Tuesday night.
Metro Nashsville Police Department (MNPD) identified the woman as 58-year-old Elizabeth Reese of Clarksville.
Police said Reese was driving her 1997 Honda CRV westbound on I-24 when traffic slowed to 5 mph due to heavy traffic volumes. Reese apparently failed to slow down and rear-ended a 2008 Ford Edge.
The collision caused a chain reaction that pushed the Edge into the back of a 2018 Toyota Camry, which then rear-ended a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox.
Reese’s car was hit on the driver’s side door by a 2004 Honda Civic that was traveling behind her. Reese died at the scene.
No one else involved in the crash sustained serious injuries. All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts.
There was no evidence at the scene of alcohol or drug involvement, according to MNPD.
