CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville man has been indicted on a second degree murder charge after an elderly woman in his care died from alleged neglect.

According to court records, 56-year-old William Greene was indicted by the December session of the Montgomery County Grand Jury on charges of second degree murder and willful physical abuse/neglect of the elderly.

Greene was initially charged with gross negligence and physical abuse of the elderly in June 2018.

According to an arrest warrant, the 65-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with nine open wounds. Officials said she was also dehydrated and malnourished when she was admitted to the hospital.

The warrant said the woman was the victim of serious bodily injury due to gross negligence. It is unclear when the victim died from her injuries.

Deadra Greene was also charged with elder abuse in June 2018. She was listed as a co-defendant in Greene’s indictment but was not indicted on the second degree murder charge. Additional court records were not available.
