CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) As flu season approaches, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention says the best time to get vaccinated is between now and the end of October.
The CDC recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone age six months and older.
The vaccine, which takes about two weeks to become fully effective, is available through any health provider, the Montgomery County Health Department, as well as Kroger, Walmart, and Walgreens pharmacies.

The Associated Press reports that an estimated 80,000 Americans died of flu and its complications last winter – the disease’s highest death toll in at least four decades.
Last fall and winter, the U.S. went through one of the most severe flu seasons in recent memory. The season was driven by a kind of flu that tends to put more people in the hospital.
